Default Converting a skill into a skill tome

Okay, hear me out here. Some of us who have played for a long time occasionally start new characters or just totally re-roll old ones. It's always a hassle to buy new skills and armor, but how about we could salvage some of it from a character we're going to delete by converting their skills into skill tomes?

If you have skills you aren't using and would rather get another skill and don't want to buy a tome, you can convert a skill to a tome and lose that skill from that character and use it to buy a new one. No one would lose anything, since you basically trade one skill into another, and if you don't want a new skill, heck, sell the tome - you'll make a bit of a profit, but lose a skill.

With the Star of Transference it's already possible to convert a skill point from character to character on your account (with an added fee of crafting), so this would work similarly but with skills unlocked on your account. Mainly I thought of regular skills, but it might work with elites too.

With Elites... It'd be like this:

*convert Elite skill* *sell Elite Tome for 10k* *go cap again for 1k* *repeat*

And for general skills. Eh.

Yeah, possibly. But I mainly thought of regular skills here, like I said.

Likely, there would be no "sell" because anyone could reroll new chars to get any amount of tomes then need.

There would have to be a limit, like you can only do this 25 (I dunno, just a random number) times per character, because I'm sure people would find a way to abuse this.

Elite skills definitely would not work.

For regulars

/ehhh, probably sign

There has to be some way to abuse this that I'm not thinking of

Um dunno... you made money with your old char so why not just use that money to buy tomes which are very cheap

What if the tomes were customised to the account? Could that work?

Then again the problem is it may destroy the tome market...

I fail to see the point to this ... regular tomes cost 300-500g that means if you want to buy an additional 20 skills for a new char it will cost you 6k - 10k.
Now if you think that a <lvl20 char needs to use more than those 20 skills I have nothing to say...

Besides don't forget that buying skills acts as a gold sink.

A gold sink is usually referred to a merchant or an NPC, something that will get gold into the economy. Getting gold to other players, who will most likely use it to get a Crystalline from another player, really does no good to the economy.

One of the incentives to do Hard Mode is the tome drops. If any character could just make them, it reduces one more item in the (at least to me) already general feeling that HM drops aren't as good as advertised initially.

If this is implemented it means that there will be more tomes, which means players will buy LESS skills from trainers, which means money will stay IN the game which means the money sink effectiveness of buying skills decreases.

Hence what I said...

That + tomes is plenty enough.

lol, sure not, do you really believe, prices of E-Tomes would stay then at 10P, if this would get introduced fool ?

Would this find its way into the game, E-Tomes prices would instantly fall down to 1 P or say 2P ... cause of massive over supply of them then ...market would ASAP explode of E-Tomes then.

I fidn that idea good, would take away some of the braindead grind the game has and for PvE I find, its really silly to buy ever tomes again for Skils, that are already unlocked for your account ..

Devs are ever talking about mergign PvE more with PvP >.> How about it, look at this also in kinda the other way...

Imo everythign we buy in PvE we should have to buy only once and everythign we buy should not be a waste of money, if we decide to reroll our characters, for example due of failing at the Survivor Title.

Other easy solution: make tomes untradeable XD and et voila, nothing with get low, sell high rince and repeat blah blah

If I am reading your hard-to-decipher-English correctly, I must say I don't find paying 600g for a tome as opposed to paying 1k at the trainer "silly".

Unless you don't like money.

As I recall, aren't skill dirt ass cheap on a new Character? Plus there are skill quests to get free ones.

It's like your first 20 skills from the trainer are less than 1k ea

I can remember when NF came out, I rolled a PvE derv and Paragon and went and bought a handfull of skills with each just to get things unlocked really cheap for PvP because I was lacking the balt faction at the time.

And tbh, It's not hard to buy tomes.

I have serious trouble buying tomes sometimes. Sometime something as simple as a norm necro tome can take 35 minutes of WTB messages in Kamadan, and don't even get me started on norm Monk Tomes. If I ever get a response for those, its always for 1.1-1.5k, and I just always think "Why would I pay you 1.5k if I can go over to the trainer and get it for 1k?" Never in my life have I purchased a Monk Tome.

Yup, you can grab a full skill bar for a new character for under 800 gold. No need to use a tome at all. And skill points are easy to come by.

Ignoring the skill trainer before new skills cost a plat each, is just plain silly.

@Kanyatta Don't use Spamadan then. Use the sell forums.
